ife does not teach in a direct and straightforward way. We often come away from experiences not really knowing what happened. We have to think about events, interactions, and the lessons they teach us. Often the lesson we think we learned immediately after the event will morph over time with further, fuller experience into other lessons.

The more ways we encounter an idea or lesson, the more we incorporate it into ourselves. We can hear someone tell us or read of wisdom. We can watch as the bit of wisdom is hard-learned by another. We can experience it ourselves. Finally, we can teach it to others. Each step along the way, we incorporate the wisdom more into ourselves, our actions, and our lives.

Psalm 78:2, “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter proverbs of old.”
