As a Child

Like a little child I have humility and delight in God’s creation.

ittle children investigate new things. They show delight in new discoveries, even if their parents might disapprove of how they have applied them, such as using crayons on the walls. Children are not proud in choosing investigations. Starting out, everything is new, so they have everything to learn.

As adults, many of us are knowledge proud. We have an education; there is nothing new under the sun. But God still has new discoveries and delights for us in Spirit. Were we done learning and growing, we would no longer be here. So, let us practice opening ourselves to new things, new ideas, new ways of thinking about what we think we know, and new interactions and gifts of the spirit.

St. Matthew 18:3, “And he said, Truly I say to you, Unless you change and become like little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
