Imagination

With God’s guidance and wisdom, I use my imagination to build the world around me.

elf-propelled lawnmowers have a switch that must be engaged to continue forward. Release the switch, the motion stops. The same is not true of our mind’s eye. If we engage our imaginations and forget we are operating heavy equipment, they can run loose, going in detrimental directions. Worry, after all, is a form of imagination.

Let us spiritualize our imaginations and guide them into productive ways. When imagining a scenario, ask yourself, “Is imagining this useful? Does this build a better world or tear my world down? Can I imagine better?” Combining our faculty of imagination with the wisdom to use it well and with God’s guidance can recreate the world around us.

Luke 11:34-35, “The lamp of your body is your eye; when therefore your eye is bright, your whole body will also be lighted; but if it is diseased, your whole body will be dark. Take heed, therefore, lest the light which is in you be darkness.”
